Stephen Pronk began his career at a scientific instrumentcompany, Analytical Instruments, in 1978. Stephen andJoanne Pronk purchased the company in 1984.

From their home garage in Scarborough, it grew to haveoffices in Sydney, Melbourne, New Zealand and USA. The company’s focus was innovative laboratory automation, with 100% locally designed and manufactured, and 96% exported.

In 2001, the Australian Government recognised the rebranded company, A.i. Scientific, as an inspirational Australian exporter. In 2016, the rebranded company, Aim Lab Automation Technologies, won the Australian Export Award for Manufacturing. In 2023, Aim Lab supported +50 staff and was acquired by Brooks Automation.

During Stephen’s 45 years of leadership, patients in +20 countries received improved patient care with quicker, more reliable diagnoses and better treatment outcomes.

2001. Australia’s Centenary Award for ‘service to the development of automated laboratory techniques’ from the Australian Federal Government.

2001. Business Person of the Year - Redcliffe Chamber of Commerce.

Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow awards, with 5 sapphires, from various Clubs and Rotarians.

Business experience:

2009-Present. Investor at Brisbane Angels, supporting emerging start-up businesses.

1984-2023. Director of Aim Lab Automation Technologies.

2015-2022. Director of other companies from start-ups to ASX companies.

2015-2018. Judge for the Moreton Bay Business & Innovation Awards.
