Longland Street history Redcliffe

Longland St Redcliffe street history:

Named after David Ferdinando Longland who arrived in Moreton Bay in 1849 on the Chaseley on which Dr Hobbs was surgeon superintendent.



David married Charlotte Sutton in 1854. He held various appointments under the Queensland Government until his retirement in 1879 and from his position of chief inspector of roads of the southern division of the colony.

Mr Longland took a keen interest in the introduction of the divisional board system. He died in 1896.
